New VITA Free Tax Preparation and Electronic Filing for 2008 tax returns.

Low-income, disabled limited English Speaking and Elderly taxpayers who have not filed their 2008 income tax returns can get free Tax Preparation and Electronic filing help at the India Community Center (ICC).

Tax preparation services are available on Wednesdays Sept 16 - Oct 14, 2009 6pm-9pm at the ICC, 525 Los Coches St, Milpitas, Ca 95035. Sign-up lists will be available at the front desk at 5:00 pm on those days. Taxpayers (and spouses) need to bring their Social Security Cards, picture ID, and W-2s, and 1099 forms and the Social Security cards of their dependents. Taxpayers must be physically present for their returns to be completed.

In compliance with Federal Title VI rights, services are available regardless of racial background or national origin as long as they are within the scope of VITA training.

This new VITA @ ICC site is staffed by IRS Trained and Certified Volunteers of the established VITA @ Milpitas Public Library site. The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program is sponsored by the IRS and the CA FTB in conjunction with various Community Partners.
